An Audio Visual Spectacular

DUAL PROJECTORS — SOUND ON SOUND — "LIVE" RECORDINGS

“Against the Grade:” The story of the Settle Carlisle Railway from conception to closure proposal. The environment, weather and accidents. Golden years of steam followed by Beeching, the diesel era and neglect. Return of steam. "Early Bird" cab trip north plus spectacular scenery.

 

Entrance £2 adults, £1 children, refreshments included.

 

Flowers of the Dales Festival Walk

Saturday 15th May 2010  - 2 pm to 4 pm

 

A free guided walk to look at the flowers and grasses found in Long Preston.

The anticipated finish time is approximately 4pm.

A stroll through the partially wooded Dales church yard to look at the spring wildflowers and signs of other wildlife. A walk along the beck side paths and up walled lanes to the moorland edge to see the contrast between limestone and gritstone habitats. 3 miles in total.
After the walk, afternoon tea will be available in the village hall at a cost of £3.

Come and discover some of Long Preston’s heritage in the
“Secret gardens, hidden spaces” of this historic village.

Tickets available at Maypole Green from 1pm each afternoon.
